My Pica Story.
Hello there!
I'm Kandice Holmes. My pica journey started 20 years ago. I developed an unhealthy relationship with traditional cornstarch as a coping mechanism for the trauma I experienced that lay dormant in my mental space but showed its ugly face more often than not. Cornstarch was an escape route for me but silently depleted my body of life-sustaining vitamins and minerals while tricking my mind into thinking I was consuming what I needed to thrive this could not be further from the truth. After my 5th blood transfusion for severe Anemia, my body suffered as a result of eating box after box of the trusted and highly sought-after "Yellow Box." I convinced myself, as so many have, that what I was doing was okay! I mean it has to be right? The company never came forward with any publications about the harm that could be associated with what I know now to be destructive behaviors that I saw in so many of my family members as well as millions of other individuals, yes! I also was a victim of the "yellow box bandit." I realized something had to change. SO I CHANGED IT! The rest is history!
